Whoopie Pies for Valentines with AARP

I'm happy to say, I'm a member of AARP, again because I was a member when I had them as my healthcare provider when I was still on disability. It was something my mom helped me sign up for, and I remember the odd looks I would get from people who wondered why I was part of it. Now that I'm 50, I feel like I'm back to the good old days with AARP and my time on Dunsmuir Ave when I used to live in Miracle Mile by the LACMA going to USC back in 2002 to 2005. I used to bike back and forth all over the place in those days. I miss those days.

So I signed up to learn to make these Whoopie Pies. And my next version will be gluten free and vegan because I have all the allergies, not that that's stopping me from eating these, too, but yes, it gives me an excuse to make them again and see if they taste any better or what not.

At the Best Buy, I learned that I was working with a video card that had not been powered up with a fan and so it overheated. I wondered if that was my fault for not installing it correctly, and I pretty much remembered- oh, we're talking about me, so most likely the answer is yes. The good news is that I've had this computer for a very long time and I honestly don't remember installing the video card, so it lasted a pretty long time without me noticing that I needed one, so maybe it worked out for however much I paid for it anyway regardless of how badly I botched the installation job. It also makes me wonder how much do I actually need a video card for the projects I do if I never actually needed a video card with a fan all this time up until now. Weird right? There was literally no wire at all connecting it. A clean cut.

My brother was recently asking me about a game that I could install that he worked on for Steam that would need a heavy duty gaming video card, and none of my computers had anything like that. In fact, I was also wondering if I should be buying a video card specifically for 3D rendering animation in case I still have weird ideas of going back to that fantasy of teaching myself and possibly applying to more of those types of jobs or film festivals, etc. I'm not sure what I have the time for. These days I'm more interested in getting my body back in shape, to the point where I feel no pain when I walk, get out of bed, etc. I've really let myself go. In fact, I'm still getting down to basics like cleaning and figuring out where things belong. It's very hard to make time for a career when I have no safety net.

We've been doing something called Chat Bandit for my writing class with CMM which basically means I've been overhearing people's conversations, and I'm supposed to take careful notes about them. Here's something from earlier today at my physical therapy with some of my own spin on the wording since I had no pen to paper at the time.

Person A- So do you have a hot date tonight for Valentine's Day?
Person B- Yes, I do, the girl over there (pointing to the other room).
Person A- Oh you mean the one with the brown hair?
Person B- Yes, the one with the long hair. I met her in Physical Therapy School.
At some point person A is trying to get up onto the platform, and a celphone pops out of his pants.
Person A- Whoops!
Person C- Whoa! A Flying Phone! (It landed in her general direction).
Person A and B continue chatting while positioning themselves on the platform. Eventually Person B has Person A's knees on top of a triangular cushion and his ankles are buckled to Person B's waist in some fashion while Person A is lying on his back.
Person B pulls his body backwards, slowly pulling Person A's lower body up and over the cushion as Person A seems ready for it.
Person B - Let your core engage.

Moments later...
Person A - It's because of the work you do that I've been able to have pain-free days. Your work is so important.
