CAF Orientation (To allow getting paid to attend Certain DMH events)

Thank you to Mark K. who has shared this resource.

CAF orientation (Virtual)

Hello Consumers, Family Members, Parents/Caregivers of consumers, and returning CAF participants-

If you are interested in receiving a Client Activity Fund (CAF) stipend for attending stakeholder meetings (such as the SALT 8, Mental Health Commission, Underserved Cultural Communities, or Cultural Competency Committee meetings), please see below.

Directly operated clinics, please share with your consumers who may be interested.

DMH employees are ineligible to participate in the CAF program so you do not need to attend this orientation but may do so if you are supporting a consumer.

The LA County Department of Mental Health (DMH) welcomes all LA County residents to participate in its MHSA Community Planning Process (CPP), we strongly encourage consumers, family members, parents, and caregivers with lived experience to join and share their experiences and provide their input.

The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health will offer an annual CAF training at the beginning of each Fiscal Year to explain how participants can receive a CAF stipend for their participation, to review the CAF guidelines, answer questions and announce any changes or updates they may have occurred since the previous year.

  • NEW participants - If you would like to become a CAF participant, please join the mandatory orientation on July 17th.  Participation is required to apply to become a participant.

  • Current/Returning CAF participants – It is important that you join the orientation to continue participating in the CAF program.  If you have become a paid DMH employee, you are no longer eligible for CAF stipends and cannot participate in this program.

Please email Ann Lee alee@dmh.lacounty.gov if you have any questions about this.

CAF was established to provide stipends to Los Angeles County residents who wish to participate in the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health’s Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Community Planning Process.  An annual CAF training is held to explain how participants can receive a CAF stipend for their participation, to review the CAF guidelines, answer questions and announce any changes or updates they may have occurred since the previous year.
